My Acne Story | LUSH Grease Lightning

Hello loves,

Well I have a different kind of post today. It is about my acne and a product I tested to try help it out.

I mentioned this in my Top 5 LUSH products post just this week. It is one of a kind. I am about to share some rather honest pictures so look away if you're easily offended.

My skin is oily in the t-zone area and can be dry elsewhere. It is also quite sensitive and I have redness on my jawline that can sometimes be quite visible. I use to have acne prone skin when I was a teenager and into my early 20's.

I will link to the LUSH website where you can see ingredients etc at the end.

I had noticed several blackheads on my face and really didn't want them to sit there and become worse so I decided to try this product. It straight away smells like Witch Hazel and Tea Tree which I like, it's an almost clean smell. It feels like a gel and as it dries you can feel it tighten over the designated area. This disappears when you apply moisturiser.

When I first used it I definitely saw more red angry pimples coming through and I thought what have I done? I moisturised and only put on a light layer of foundation etc. The next day the red angry spots seemed almost hidden in my skin but that night (I didn't get a picture) they were out in force and they were sore. I really hated my decision to use this on the third day which was awful. On the third day I noticed instantly just how bad my skin was. The texture seemed more evened out funnily enough but the spots, oh gosh. I remember sending my sister a picture and she was even amazed at how quick my skin got bad.

The picture above are days 4,5 and 6. Day 4 the redness was just as bad as day 3. You use this as often as you wish but I used it in the morning and at night. A little goes a long way and you don't need to overcoat a blemish area. My skin does seem refreshed after using this and a little brighter. As for any scarring after the spots have gone? I have found there to be nothing too harsh which is a relief.

This product is a good one and I would highly recommend it especially if you have blemish prone skin. It takes a few days but persevere with it. You have to really keep up with your normal skin care routine and drink water. Water helps everything.

Hope you enjoyed this post and it helped someone. Xox

LUSH Top 5 | Hair & Skin Care

So, who likes LUSH?

I have a tonne of products from LUSH that I love. The bath and shower products are amazing but since working there I have gotten to know much more about the products.

Sea Spray is a very unique product. It's a hair mist with the most gorgeous scent. The top three ingredients are Sea Salt, Grapefruit Oil and Neroli. It has a slight tackiness when you spray it out so I spray it into my hand first and then place it in my hair. I use this on towel dry hair and style it that way. It retails for £9.95 but a little goes a long way.

Grease Lightning is a very cool product. I had noticed a few blemishes on this little face of mine and invested in this bad boy. Witch Hazel, Lavender and Aloe Very Gel are three of the ingredients in this. You can really tell this works and leaves the skin very hydrated, soft and the blemishes disappear. This retails for £6.40.

Dream Cream is such a popular product in LUSH. It sold out so many times when I worked there. I have to say after using it for a good while now, I can see why. It soothes and relaxes my skin so much. Cocoa butter, lavender and rose are just some of the ingredients which help moisturise and sooth the skin. One of the things I learned in LUSH is that this product is great for anyone with eczema. This retails for £11.95.

Sympathy For The Skin is my personal favourite body lotion. It really is special. I have typical Irish skin, in that it goes red, dry and can be a sensitive buggar. Packed with bananas, vanilla, cocoa butter and almond oil it really nourishes the skin yet softens and nourishes it too. I love this so much. Get a sample and try it out. This retails for £11.75.

Finally we have my favourite over night cream, Skin's Shangri La. I have road tested a few face moisturisers from LUSH but few have become favourites. This product has something called Queen of Hungary Water which tones the skin and gives it the fragrance. It also it known as rosemary which is steeped in vodka, rosemary is an antiseptic. I love how this softens my skin and gets rid of any dryness. In the Winter my skin gets very dry in parts. No more thanks to this baby. This retails for £29.50 BUT a little goes a long way and definitely get a sample before you buy.

Have you tried any of the above? Let me know. I'm always looking to try new LUSH stuff.

I also want to mention that I did work there but I was not told to say anything about the products. I use them all myself and love them.

Top 14 of 2014 |

Welcome to my top 14 of the past year, 2014!! Woo hoo.

So, let's get started. I will give mini reviews along the way.

KIKO are a brand I discovered this year and their water shadows are AMAZING. I have two and will definitely be investing in more ASAP. They are beautiful wet or dry but trust me when I say the colour pops when wet and they last a long time.
The original Urban Decay Naked palette has been used so much by me this year but looks nearly new. I seriously loved a golden, warm brown eye in the Summer. I also obsessed over the Urban Decay Naked Basics, the original. It is so simple yet extremely useful for eyes and brows. Venus can also be used as a face highlighter. Amazing eye products.

NUXE Reve De Miel is one heck of a lip balm. Such a good lip balm for when you want those suckers to be moisturised, plump and soft for hours. Whilst it is nearly £10, it is worth it. LOVE!!
YSL Fusion Ink is brilliant. I have the shade B20. I have fair skin with neutral undertones. This shade is perfect. It is also amazing for my oily skin. I do have to moisturise my few dry patches before using this, that is the only fault. Otherwise, it is long lasting, easy to build up and looks flawless. I WOKE UP LIKE THIS #FLAWLESS
NARS knocked it out of the world with this cheek palette. The Virtual Domination palette was a gift from my parents in November. I use it most days and it is just perfection. I did do a blog post with swatches so click Novembers posts for all info.

Natural Collection are probably one of the most affordable brands on the High Street. I have had a fair few of their products over the years and recently repurchased a bunch of products. I tend to try so many mascaras so I am picky. The Lash Length mascara is amazing at lengthening the lashes and lifting them up. I have it in Brown/Black for a more natural day to day lash. When I want some out there and pure black? I turn to Urban Decay's Perversion mascara. This is the blackest mascara, long lasting and gives my lashes loads of pizazz!! Buy it people!
MAC's Pro Longwear concealer is a bloggers dream. It conceals and highlights so well. It lasts hours and on me, at least, it does not crease. Another must have.

Australis products are hard to get here but my word they are amazing. I have Berry Nice Kiss which is a muted berry shade and Make Me Blush is a gorgeous peach/pink shade. The formula is a little heavy but they are not too sticky on the lips. They are pigmented and long lasting. I love them. So obsessed.
Many YouTube and Bloggers have preached about the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red (01) and when I was in Bilbao I got one. I love cool tone bright reds on me so I knew I would love it and I definitely do. It is bright, long lasting and does not move. So good I bought a backup.

Wet N Wild are simply amazing and not being able to choose more of them in my faves was hard. I chose their lipstick in Bare It All as it is the perfect nude, for me anyway. It is darker than your typical nude but is definitely more brown. Some say it is a dupe for MAC's Velvet Teddy but I don't own that. Great staying power on the lips and very pigmented.
My friend Kate sent me MAC's Rebel this year in our huge International Swap and I love it. It is a perfect berry with a pink twinge to it. Satin finishes from MAC are amazing. I also have MAC's Twig which OMG is my fave colour this year. It sits on my lips so well and I love the slight pink to it. AMAZING.

From bottom upwards; Sephora Cream Lip Stain 'Always Red', Australis 'Berry Nice Kiss', Australis 'Make Me Blush', MAC 'Twig', MAC 'Rebel' and Wet N Wild 'Bare It All'.

So folks, there you have it. Picking fourteen was so hard. Millie helped me though.

I love my crazy kitty hehe. Have you guys any recommendations for me?

Peace.. Xox

Hothair Uplift Hair Piece*

Who doesn't love some extra volume and lift to their hair?

Michelle from Thou Shall Not Covet had a tweet looking for folks to review some pieces for Hot Hair. I jumped at the chance to be considered.

I chose a long piece as my hair is growing nicely after having a much needed chop and I thought medium was too short. I had every intention of colouring my hair dark but with work and being busy in general it has yet to happen.

What Hothair say 'The Uplift : Long is a clever piece that clips onto your crown to give you extra volume for a dramatic effect. Its secret? Hidden wires that you push up to create extra lift for 60's vava voom or a fabulous extra voluminous look.

Just clip in the pieces in the front and the back of the hair piece to secure and voila, an easy instant volume effect without the need of teasing your hair! Perfect for doing updo's and beehives!'

As you can see the hair is very long, shiny and almost black. Just gorgeous. You can see it has three clips at the top and one at the bottom. It also is synthetic hair and has hidden wiring for extra oomph.

I forgot to take a picture of me with my hair up but will post one on my Instagram asap. Now I have been using this as a normal extenstion piece and not a lifting piece, just to see could it be done and I think it can.

In the picture the darker part of my hair is the extension and I did cut them a small bit after this picture. I LOVE THEM. I quite like the black in with my lighter brown, looks kinda funky. I already have my eyes on more extensions from this brand. Whilst I didn't straighten this piece, I want to get some I can use hot tools on in future. When in my hair or attached to my head, should I say, it did not irritate me. In the past I have used extensions where they have hurt my scalp or even weighed me down. This was not the case, thank God.

I cannot recommend this brand enough. The shipping was insanely quick and Michelle helped me no end with deciding on colouring etc. Thank you :D The piece retails for £49 but at the moment is £39.20 on the website. Go have a peep folks.

Have you tried anything from Hothair? Let me know .

So, when Real Techniques brought out Nics Picks, how many of you bought them? *hand up*

These are the hardest brushes to photograph because of the silver packaging. So what are my thoughts?

The duo fibre brush is one I thought I wouldn't use but I do daily. It's great to use at the end of your makeup to ensure everything is blended in nicely. A great quality brush.

This cheek brush is fantastic. I find it to be better than the original pink handled blush brush. It's smaller in size and people may alternatively use this for powder or highlight but it sits on the cheek perfectly. I find it doesn't pick up too much product either even though it is packed full of synthetic hair. This is my second favourite brush.

Here we have the angled shadow brush and the base shadow brush. The base shadow brush is my all time favourite RT brush. It is the perfect brush for everything on the eye lid. It's dense, yet fluffy. Works so well with shadows and blends like a dream. The angled version is a tad bigger but is a wonderful outer V brush that blends nicely into the crease and a little above. These two babies are wonderful.

I have a few variations of eye liner brushes from RT but this is their best yet. The brush looks like nothing too crazy but it is small, packed with bristles, angled and thin. It is incredibly easy to use. I have a Sigma E05 that is good but nothing as good as this bad boy. I love it.

I love this set. It is wonderful. All brushes are exclusive asides from the duo fibre and base shadow brush. I'm not too keen on the silver packaging but it will suffice.

Have you picked this up yet? Available to buy here.

Hey all,

So, I have a different sort of post today and it's based around one little furry friend named Millie.

The picture above is from the 30th Nov when I first got her. I adopted her through the RSPCA here in Gloucester. I went to see her at the beginning of November in Cheltenham. I was put in contact with a lovely woman named Heather who had about 14 cats in her huge farm. I was made to feel very welcome when I met her and I definitely felt hugely overwhelmed at the amount of cats.

I knew I wanted a kitten but I definitely wanted a female. I do believe Millie was the only female out there, I could be wrong. Heather opened her cage doors and out came two kittens. One was small and the other tall and lean. Millie was formerly named Yasmine by the sanctuary and she was the tall kitten. I got told Millie and her three brothers were abandoned at the side of a road in a box. I mean why are people so evil!?

I picked Millie (Yasmine) up and she gave me chin hugs, purred and seemed comfy right away. I put her down and as she walked about one of the other male cats in the cages miaowed at her and she hissed. I laughed because she had shown a bit of her character and she was feisty. I got told more info about the adoption process and cuddled Millie and left.

It took some time for the RSPCA volunteer to do the home visit. It is supposed to be a short process but we waited for over a week. I didn't get her before my birthday which was Nov 19th, and I was disappointed. When the RSPCA volunteer finally came he stayed and checked the house for a good five minutes before he left. I checked the Gloucestershire area for volunteers and apparently they don't need any but I would beg to differ and would gladly offer my services.

I agreed with Heather to pick Millie up on the 30th Nov. I went that day, done the paperwork, got told some info on her injections, spaying etc and paid my £60 fee.  I had to go to a staff meeting in LUSH the night we got her so James brought her home and made her bed, got her food etc. When I got back she was behind the TV just looking so dazed and bewildered. I spoke to her and Millie has not left my side since. I walk up the stairs, she's right behind me. A shadow. Too cute for words.

I would highly recommend adopting a pet. It is the right human thing to do. It breaks my heart to think about her brothers still not having homes. I can tell you it is the best thing I have done. Millie is happy, healthy and loves her new home and owners. I have a huge love for this little nearly six month old kitten and it won't fade easily.

Do you have a pet? What are their cute habits? Millie tucks her paws up all the time hehe.

Just look at the cute packaging for this palette. *swoon*

I received this for Christmas after lusting after it for so long. It has cardboard packaging which I don't love but anyway. It retails for £35.

Just look at those colours. So 90's, so different. Let me talk you through the shades.

Venus is a plum shade with some red to it. It's a matte shade. Shell is a pink apricot shade very similiar to KIKO Water Shadow in 219, it's a very buttery satin type of shadow. Aura is the same texture and is a off white but slightly golden highlight shade. Creation is a stunning brown shade with some definite red to it and is matte.

Icon is a deep dark almost dirty brown and I love it. It is a beauty of a matte shade. Rebirth is a standout shade in that it is so unique. It's not orange or peach but kind of in between, also a matte. Divine is what looks like a transition shade but I assure you it is stunning alone too. It's a taupe light brown and very matte. Muse is a matte burgundy red that is unique and very grungy. Love it.

The first picture is the top row and second picture is the second row. Just to be clear.

Now, I did do a video on my YouTube about this palette so please check it out and subscribe if you're not already. Helps me out.

I love this palette. I love how these shadows last all day, blend nicely together and there's so much you can do with these colours. Beautiful. I go into more detail in the video as well as having some of the shadows on my eyes.

Have you tried this palette?
