GETTING PERSONAL

Hey beauts,

Well I thought I would mix it up today. I usually do reviews, focus posts and the odd haul BUT wanted to get a tad personal.

Now forgive me as I can never remembers dates, years etc.

Here we go *breathes in, these are OLD pics and not all flattering haha*

So this is me as a kid. I was always a quirky dresser. My mother always told me I was quiet and kept myself to myself. I never left my parents side, I had separation anxiety. Haha.

Funny story, if my parents went out for dinner or for a few drinks, I would hate it. My cousin Janet use to babysit us and I would cry like crazy and when they left the house, I would vomit because I wanted them back. I was a nightmare. I find it hilarious telling this tale as it is so needy and just amuses me endlessly. You can't be mad at someone who in a weird way loved their parents haha.

This haircut, OH MY WORD! I had asked for a short style and I remember giving the Head Stylist in Toni & Guy tonnes of pictures so she didn't mess my hair up and well she did. It was actually shorter than these pictures so you can imagine how short it was. I complained and got red streaks, because that was clearly what I wanted. It had grown out a bit in the far right picture.

My hair had grown a little in this picture. I went to see Tegan and Sara in London a few times during  2005. I think it was 2005. Still an awful picture but I got to meet them, I clearly was excited. Wow look at my eyebrows!!!

I didn't enlarge this picture too much as it's not great quality anyway. I had a very serious operation nearly 10 years ago. I had to have my jaw broke to correct alignment in my jaw line. I had a SERIOUS overbite as a child and teenager. I was always a quiet kid and loved my own company which probably didn't help me in the long run because I did get badly bullied in primary and more so secondary school.

My friends in college a few years ago couldn't believe I had any form of bullying because I was always so outgoing, held myself well and stood my ground, firmly. I am and always will be a shy girl though. My operation was and is still a huge deal to me. I had 2 separate holes through my elastics where straws could be placed so I could eat. My mouth was wired shut so I couldn't speak and had to sleep sitting upright.

I remember being constantly frustrated with not being able to talk and do normal things. I wanted to be personal for a change so that people who read my blog could see a different side to me. We all have a story and here is a small amount of mine.

Be happy, enjoy life and obstacles can always be overcome.

Bourjois Color Edition 24H | Cream to Powder Eyeshadow

Dia Duit, which is Irish for Hello,

Am I right when saying the sunshine is divine? My hay fever is at bay so far. Today I have a wonderful little discovery.

I was wandering around my town the other day and went into one of the chemists. They don't sell Bourjois everywhere over here in Ireland so I was happy to see it. I think Bourjois are my favourite drugstore/high street brand.

I had seen these eyeshadows on some blogs and they really intrigued me. With moving to Ireland for a little while and being fixated with Wet N Wild, I forgot all about them.

The chemist only had this shade and a bronze shade. I chose the silver shade to be different.. It was €5.95 and not the usual €8.99 or for you UK readers, £6.99. I am in love with my Naked 2 palette (it's my fave) and thought this would be great with the cool tone silvers in that palette (Verve, Pistol and Suspect especially)

I just love this product. I love the pigmentation, longevity and sparkle it gives on the lid. I have used this as a base and solo and love it.

Have you tried these before? Any recommendations for different colours?

Enjoy the sunshine,

Makeup Artist Focus | Liza Prideaux

Hey beauties,

I have installment number three of my MUA Focus. I first spoke to Liza last year when I looking to attend the S/W Meetup. I was nervous to even ask if I could attend but she made me feel very much like a friend. I truly appreciated her kindness and I think her positive outlook on life is to be admired.

What made you start a blog?
I began blogging because many friends would ask me for make-up tips and tricks all the time, I thought having my own space to share these tips and tricks would answer alot of questions and I liked the thought of being able to get creative and share my thoughts with everyone.

Do you have 3 blogs you have to read per day or week?
I read lots of blogs but the top three I always come back to are; www.bump-to-baby.com I just adore Alex's photography and I love reading about her son Ethan and hearing about his milestones as he is just a month or so younger than Vinny, I have many favourite mummy blogs but that along with Oh So Amelia is my favourite. I also love Belles Boutique, it was one of the first blogs I found and adored and lastly I always love to check out Anna Sacconnes along from her YouTube channel.

If you had to do anyone's makeup. who and why?
I'd love to do Mollie Kings make-up because she is a total babe and I think we'd really get on.

When it comes to your blog, what would you like to progress with or add on?
I'd like to become more consistent with posts, although I post quite often since going back to work I have found time management a lot harder so I need to tackle that this year. I'd also like to get my second blog Glambambini to the same level as Glambeautys and post just as often on both.
You've done some blog and YouTube work with Crownbrush, have they given you any advice?
I visited Crownbrush this month to be a guest on their YouTube channel, I got to have a good chinwag with Zoe Newlove head of social media and make-up artistry we had a lovely time but it was more of a casual visit rather than work it just felt like I was with friends if you know what I mean?

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I just love spending time with my family creating wonderful memories, I adore photography it's great to capture those precious moments with my son and husband.

With your beauty videos and vlogs getting more and more views, can you recommend a camera and lighting system?
I use my canon 600d for filming and I have just invested in a ring light, before that I used two softbox lights which worked really well and I got them for about £55 total off eBay so not too pricey. If you don't have a huge budget then natural light is your best friend, sit in front of a window and film away.
Is there a particular key to your success online? In your opinion?
I wouldn't say I'm a huge success but most of my viewers/readers have come from social media, if I didn't have that I think it would have been very hard to get my blog out there.
Name 5 of your favourite BEAUTY gurus and 3 of your fave LIFESTYLE/Random YouTubers.
YouTube beauty guru favourites are:
Hollie Wakeham, mmandlshow, Nicole guerririo, teni-missmaven.com, and carli bybel

YouTube lifestyle/random favourites are:
Carly Rowena (fitness guru), Hannah Maggs (lifestyle/mummy/beauty) and Shameless Maya she's just fabulous in everything!

I love this series. It is so nice to get involved and interacting with fellow Bloggers. Thanks again to Liza and we'll definitely do a follow up in a few months.

Check out Liza's links above, you won't be disappointed.

Wet N Wild 'Poster Child' Palette

Hey loves,

Well today I have yet ANOTHER palette from Wet N Wild to talk about. Do you think if I ask, they would sponsor me? Haha.

Now, I have had my eyeballs on this for some time. I literally wanted it more than the Comfort Zone palette. I have also reviewed that here. The reason I bought the Comfort Zone was the sheer hype of the palette.

So, take a moment and look at the gorgeous colours. I mean, HELLO! I love neutrals but I especially love bright colours. Whilst you soak in the prettiness of those colours, here's a picture of the brush you get.

If you don't like brights then this won't be for you BUT if you want to buy a bright palette for a pop of colour in your eye look then this is for you. I have used this several times with various looks. I might do a 2 looks 1 palette with this.

I did mark the highlight shades as they are sheer. You see them in the palette and wonder are they going to be bright but they are sheer and actually quite pleasing on the browbone. Down from that is eyelid, crease and definer shades.

The swatches are without primer and are very pigmented. They are surprisingly long lasting too. I saw no creasing or fading and all I used was NYX Milk eye pencil as a base.

I would highly recommend this palette. Gorgeous shades, pigmented, easy to blend and they just absolutely rock.

Have a wonderful evening,

Catrice Longlasting WATERPROOF Eye Pencil

Hey loves,

Well if you saw my haul video, linked at the end, then you will have seen this eyeliner. I think I was a tad TOO excited about it.

So, in Ireland I can buy Catrice in most chemists but in the UK I can't. I always try and stock up on a few items when in Ireland.

What I like most is the retractable element. I am not a huge fan of sharpening pencils. It's nice and slim too so you can be as precise with your line or as thick with your line, each to their own preference.

There were a few colours when I bought this but I loved the idea of gold liner. It really is pretty. It's a very soft liner which I expected. The nib broke on my first swatch, which just irritated me.

I absolutely love this eyeliner. Whilst it is one to work with, it is so stunning on the lower lash liner or what I have done with it, is pop it as liner on my lid and a soft crease. Tutorial coming soon. It dries incredibly fast too and does not move. Waterproof it is.

Have you tried Catrice? Have a look at my haul over on my YouTube channel.

Enjoy the sunshine my loves,

Makeup Artist Focus | Rupinder Mundra | Beauty Bootcamp

Hey loves,

I'm starting a new series on my blog where I focus on a Makeup Artist and get the low down on their skills, tips etc. I am excited. I have become good friends with Rupinder who recently starred in Daily Mix' Beauty Bootcamp. Rupinder is such an amazing girl.

What made you start a blog?

When I was growing up and experimenting with beauty products, beauty gurus weren't really around which led to me taking matters into my own hands and teaching myself things about products and learning on my own terms. I'm 20 years old  so this new wave of beauty bloggers/youtubers was starting out when I was about 15 and honestly at that time I just felt I was too young to put myself out there for the world. I felt very vulnerable and as though I needed to strengthen my abilities so through youtubers like Lisa Eldridge, Pixiwoo, Tanya Burr etc they escalated my passion and made me realise that beauty is a realistic profession. I was encouraged to begin a blog from family and friends as I was always the one who people came to for advice/ tips so I thought why not share them with everyone else and ultimately, thats where I am now.
Do you have 3 blogs you have to read per day or week?

Oh yeah for sure. I am always reading blogs and visiting websites for inspiration, information, new releases.. just everything really! I feel as though beauty bloggers are becoming more valued than what we read in the media, we are just regular girls that want to share our findings with an audience who have a mutual interest. Blogs that I read everyday are: Lily Pebbles, Vivanna Does Make-Up & The Beauty Crush. They are some of my favourite beauty gurus who I really aspire aswell to swell as ones who I really feel I relate to. They update their blogs very frequently so theres always amazing, quality content to read over there so I highly recommend them.

If you had to do anyone's makeup. who and why?
Ooooh tough question!! I would love to do so many people's make-up but if I had to choose one, I think I would go for someone who is pretty fearless with their looks and willing to experiment with different combinations. There are a lot of people out there who fit that bill but I'm going to choose Rihanna. I think she looks like so much fun to be around and always manages to make anything look amazing. I like 'imperfect' make-up most of the time unless its for a special occasion, I love the slightly smudged liner and effortless look which Rihanna works so well, her phenomenal bone structure helps too I suppose! I contemplated Beyonce here, as I feel she could also well and truly pull it off but I would be so out of my depth and a blubbering mess!

When it comes to your blog, what would you like to progress with or add on?

I know this sounds really cliche and in some respects cringey but I really just want to help people. I know make-up and beauty seems like such a superficial trade to a lot of people but in a society where women are put under so much pressure to look perfect its a reality of our lifestyles. We need to feel confident and happy which make-up helps us to do. True beauty undoubtedly comes from within and make-up is just something that adds to it which I really hope my blog highlights and will continue to stand for. I want all women to support each other and know we are there to help not compete against one another. I am striving for people gaining something from watching my videos and reading my blog, whether it's the smallest of make-up tips or finding a new product they fall in love with. I guess to sum this up, I want there to be something for everyone, all skin tones, eye shapes, budgets - we all deserve to feel the most amazing versions of ourselves!

As you were on Beauty Bootcamp, what was your favourite moment?

Ahhh I suppose if I say it all thats cheating right?! ;) Hmm I think I would have to say Day 2 (The vlogging challenge) where we actually got a whole day with Sam and Nic, we were all still together and I conquered a major personal goal of going up in front of a camera doing what I have always been too petrified to do previously. I had never made a youtube video before so I didn't know what to expect or how to approach anything, I just thought I need to take a deep breath and be nothing other than myself because at the end of the day, thats all I can ever be. I find that when I get really nervous I build a guard up and tend to freeze quite a lot but I had an amazing pep talk that day and was SO overwhelmed when Sam and Nic selected me as the challenge winner because I truly never expected that to happen.

Did you get any advice from the Pixi Woo Sisters?

Yes. They were such amazing and lovely women but they are incredibly busy so we didn't get to spend as long as we thought we would with them but nevertheless, with their lifestyles we thoroughly understood. Nic and I had a discussion about how to handle life as a youtuber and she was incredibly encouraging and understanding. She explained that we all know part of the package comes a lot of hate but also at the same, there is a lot of love which counteracts any negatives. At the end of the day, if you ignore all that stuff then that is the best thing you can do because ultimately there are people who enjoy what you do and your enjoying it too so why let someone interfere with that? She helped me through all my reservations and horrible nerves I had with starting out so that was really great advice. I am so pleased I took the plunge though and I am always thankful to Pixiwoo, dailymix and the other girls for being so unbelievably sweet and supportive! We all feel like a little family and I'm just so happy with everything going on right now - I can't wait to see what the future holds and take all my gorgeous followers with me for the journey :).

So, that is it for this post. Stay tuned for Friday's installment.

Wet N Wild Coverall Pressed Powder

Hey loves,

Well you can tell I have been on a WNW binge lately. Their stuff is so affordable.

My one big pain in the butt with cosmetics is a finishing powder. I cannot for the life of me find my holy grail. Ever. I will try them all until I get one.

I have heard quite a bit about this powder so I was definitely intrigued.

It isn't bad packaging for €3.99 and 7.5g of product. It's small and sleek. Whilst the sponge is a nice touch, I will never use it. It's not chalky and not too powdery to touch. It is finely milled.

I have only used it yesterday and today and loved it. That may change but so far it is great. I didn't need a touch up until maybe 5 hours after my first application. If you have seen it around and you've been curious? Give it a go.

I think that's all my Wet N Wild posts for a while now but I have to buy it whilst in Ireland, it's not available in the UK. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Have you tried anything from Wet N Wild? Just a side note, I am not sponsored by them, I wish I was.

Wet N Wild Mega Liner

Hey loves,

As you may have guessed, Wet N Wild is available to buy in Ireland now. One of our supermarkets here called Dunnes Stores carries it. They booted Essence out and got Wet N Wild in.

For those who are new to liquid liner or just prefer gel, try this if you can.

As you can the brush is short but it isn't as pointed as some others I have seen. My issue with liquid liner is getting a grip with the brush so it's firm but still moves. I don't think for me, as a beginner, a long brush or handle is ideal.

I love this product. The handle and brush make it so easy for you to have a good grip. The colour range isn't the largest but I chose turquoise for the Spring. I found two coats of this on the lid made it pop and look very different. This liner is so easy to use, I even managed to get a wing. That is a huge deal, for me anyway.

For €2.99, I have to go back for more. For those in the UK looking for Wet N Wild, click here.
