143.

Morning lovelies,

Today is a very different post. On my old blog I did mention my boyfriend James before. I had done some 'days out' posts and featured him. James' name will pop up from time to time. We have known each other for a long time now but today is our 6 month anniversary. I don't care if people think this is soppy or stupid, it's good to be happy and happy for others :P

I won't go into too much detail about my past but I have had some ups and a lot of downs when it comes to relationships. I blamed myself but quickly realised something's aren't meant to be, that's life :)

When I came back from Ireland after recouping there for five months, I was not looking for any kind of relationship at all. When I started to work in my previous job I certainly didn't expect to like anyone, let alone someone who was a smidgeon older than me. Enter: James! Haha.

This man is an absolute treasure. He is so supportive and encouraging. I think a tonne of my friends and family can see how happy we are together and in person how happy we are to be around each other without being all over each other. Oh Lord I am growing up.

Anyway, thank you for the last 6 months Jimmy boy and here's to many more. God help you haha.

Have a great day everyone.

REVIEW: Catrice Holi Hai

Well hello there,

I have a review for you guys today. I am reviewing a mousse, yes mousse blush from German brand Catrice. I am a huge fan of them and hate that I can't access their products often. I get them in Ireland.

I received this from Aishling in our swap recently. That post was on my old blog but the YouTube video is right here so watch me!!

I love the dusky pink colour of the blush. It's a very flushed cheek colour. Great for this time of the year. the reason there is a tonne of product used already is because you need a good amount to get decent colour pay off.

I know the swatch picture looks disgustingly weird BUT I wanted to show the amount of product for a small portion of my hand and how it looks before rubbing or stippling into the skin. When you buff that amount out it barely appears on the skin. It is almost worse than Benefit's Posietint.

All in all, I think the colour is super girly and cute BUT the product is a bit of a dud. I want to like it but it is hard to work with and the amount of product you use for any colour pay off is ridiculous.

I wonder do they have this colour in one of their normal blushes?? Hmmm.

Back to the review, I would unfortunately never repurchase this blush. The idea is great but it doesn't execute well at all. Sorry Catrice.

Have a wonderful evening,

REVIEW: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

Herro,

How are we? I think a storm is brewing out there. The wind and rain is gross :(

Today I have a quick review on a NYX lip cream.

I got this off Love Makeup. I have had a look on their website and these seem to be gone at the moment. They only have them in a trio. Grrr. The shade I have is Addis Ababa.

I got this shade as I love dark pink lips especially cool tone dark pink. I wasn't sure about the formula at first but there is a knack to these magical things. Hehe. I would recommend coating your lips in balm beforehand, take that off and apply one coat, let it dry and then build the colour to your desire.

I have nothing but great things for this lip cream. It is seriously pigmented and long lasting. I team it up with some lipsticks and it adds extra ooph to it. I am definitely going to buy some more of these.

Please excuse the awful lip picture. I haven't gotten the hang of it. This was taken after 4 hours, yes 4! It was still as matte as ever and very vibrant. The only dry parts were where I open and close my mouth. How amazing is that?

Have a great day.

Review - A Few PRIMERS!

Evening all,

Well today I want to talk about some primers I have and discuss in small detail what they're like etc.

So we have Benefit's The POREfessional, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Catrice Prime and Fine, Essence I <3 Stage Eyeshadow Base, Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray.

I have included the setting spray as it is something that encourages your makeup to last longer which is what the others do before application. I have the travel size as I wanted to test it out before I buy a full size. I do feel it helps keep my makeup on longer but it doesn't control my t-zone enough. I'm still unsure of this Urban Decay product.

The one and only face primer I have is by Benefit. I got this travel size in a travel size set. I have reviewed that HERE! I do like this product but again not sure if it works. I don't notice a huge difference with it. It comes and goes on my skin like the rain in winter, tee hee!

I am very picky with eye primers. When I got into makeup properly I tried Urban Decay's Primer Potion and never really loved it. I do think it's a tad over hyped. For me personally, it doesn't prolong my eye makeup and makes my shadows crease. The only reason I have this one is because it came with a palette I got recently.

Next up is Catrice. I got this in a recent makeup swap with Aishling. This claims to make your eyeshadow waterproof. I love the brand and have done for years. I stock up when I go back to Ireland in a big way. This does not make anything waterproof and I have put that to the test. Otherwise, it is a decent primer. Keeps the shadow there for a good 8 hours and only has minor creasing after that.

Nexxxxxxxxxt, we have Essence. I have seen this eyeshadow base on YouTube and on some blogs. I needed it. Essence are so inexpensive and have some really good stuff. They are available in some Wilkos in the UK at the moment but more extensively in the New Year. YAAAAAAY! This is a concealer coloured base. I love it. I use this over my Too Faced Shadow Insurance when I'm using creams, golds and white shadows. It makes them pop and the colour payoff stays ALL day. Love it.

Now for my favourite. The HOLY GRAIL. Too Faced Shadow Insurance baby!! What did I use before this? Honest to God this stuff is amazing. It makes everything stay all day, no creases, anything! I recommend this to anyone and everyone and their nans.

I hope you find this helpful.

See you soon,

Victoria xox

REVIEW: Rimmel Apocalips

Hello friends,

Well another day, another review. Not that I mind. It's also gotten so dull outside but it's not cold.. YET! Asides from all that I hope everyone is well.

I know Rimmel have just recently brought out new colours in the Apocalips range BUT I haven't been near a Boots or Superdrug to see them. That's a weekend mission hehe. I want to review the three I have and I think they're popular enough to be helpful if anyone is wondering what they're like.

You will have to also excuse some of the lighting the pictures, it was a dull evening. I realise I need more white and that in future.

Rimmel say 'It's the End of Colour as you know it! The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine. It's neither a lipstick nor a gloss... It's BIGGER than both!
LONG LIVE THE COLOUR!'

I would definitely agree with the shine finish and rich colour. You're paying £5.99 RRP for a great lip lacquer. They are highly pigmented and very long lasting. I think the price is very reasonable too.

Let's get to the colours I have shall we?

Unfortunately I haven't mastered taking good pictures of products on my lips so swatches on my hand will have to do for the moment.

Nude Eclipse looks nicer in the tube and on my hand than it does on my lips. I do find it to be quite bland so teaming it with a nice baby pink or nude brings it to life. I always try to make a product work before giving up on it.

Big Bang is a very vibrant red. It is super gorgeous and very glossy. I cannot tell you how pigmented they all are. This can be worn alone and look great.

My favourite of the bunch is Nova. I love the cool toned baby pink colour. I love that it looks good with any eye makeup you do. Isn't in your face bright but bright enough to be admired.

Overall, I cannot fault these lip lacquers. Definitely one of the best products Rimmel has brought out in recent years alongside the Moisture Renew lipsticks. Go buy one or them all people! hehe.

Have a wonderful day,

Sausage Casserole..

Hey,

Well today is a food post. Sorry. I have a great job working for Le Creuset and my interest in food has been revived. Yay!

James and I made a sausage casserole the other night in my 20cm Cast Iron dish from Le Creuset and my God it was amazing. Not only was the flavour enhanced by the quality of the dish it was made in, but it was so easy.

So tonight was my night to make it on my own.

I am a very fussy eater so dishes like this can be plain to some but lovely to me. Everyone has their own tastes. I did have swede in the first one but we forgot to buy one haha.

As there are only two of us I browned eight sausages with butter and not oil. As that was going on, I washed, chopped and chunked up the vegetables.

I then popped everything into the bowl and added a tiny bit bit of salt and pepper. I then mixed up the casserole mix, I used one pint of water for this. This one was so inexpensive and is from Lidl. It was so nice too. I then heated up the hob at mark 10. I popped the mix over the vegetables, added the sausages and a tiny bit of pepper.

I left the dish on mark 10 till it started to boil and then let it sit at mark 4 for approximately 20 minutes. The dish is done when the potatoes and vegetables are soft and you can put a knift/fork through them.

As you can see in the pictures it turned out beautifully and I am now going to dig in. YUM!!

Just a side note, I may work for Le Creuset but they didn't tell me to write this and all that jazz. I genuinely love my job and the products. Mner! You can find them here though so go buy everything.. Cast Iron Casserole Dishes.

Have a good night/evening/day,

Rimmel vs Rimmel..

Hello there,

Today's post is about two Rimmel mascaras. Both are from the 'Scandaleyes' collection. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with some mascaras. I go through them very quickly. Read on to see did either of these make it onto my Holy Grail list

You can buy both products here :) Clickity click

Let's start with the Scandaleyes Lyrca Flex mascara. Rimmel say 'The first oversized volume mascara with LYCRA® for soft and flexible lashes. Flexible formula enhanced with weightless LYCRA® technology makes lashes look full and voluptuous but remain flexible, never stiff or brittle!
Layer it on now and later for buildable drama!'

As you can see the brush is large and gets slightly pointed at the top. Almost like a cone haha. This makes it easier to get into the inner corner. If you were to use this in the inner corner I would suggest wiping any excess product off the want to avoid messy eyelids especially if you've done lovely eye makeup. It is a buildable mascara BUT it can get a tad clumpy so to avoid that, again, take off any excess.

Now onto the next mascara...

Rimmel say 'It’s Retro Mania! Bold, Wide-eyed false lash look!
Bold, wide-eyed false lash look. Hour-glass brush shaped to the lash line to plump lashes, fanning them up and out for bold, wide-eyed volume. Coats lashes individually for a big, false lash look in one simple stroke. No clumps!'

I really like this mascara. I love the wand and how it's like a curvy woman haha. The clump factor is more intense on this after one coat. You really get so much product on the wand every time you dip the wand in and I don't like how it smells. I do love how this gives my lashes tonnes of volume. It also separates them so nicely. Beware of crispy lashes after two coats though.

So, all in all which mascara is the better one?

I personally prefer the 'Lycra Flex'. I prefer the wand and appreciate how it works in general. I hate crispy lashes after mascara and this doesn't do that even if it clumps. Whilst I think Rimmel are on a fantastic run lately with them having so many amazing products, these two mascaras should not be ignored by any means.

Have you tried any of these mascaras? What should my next 'Versus' be based on?

Thanks for reading and I hope you follow using the 'Bloglovin' gadget to your right.

REVIEW: Benefit Happy Beauty Day Products

Good evening,

Well, it's a tad chilly out now isn't it? Don't forget the clocks go back shortly so it'll be dark at 6pm :(

Anyways, my review today is one of the sample kits from Benefit. I bought this in Boots in my city and it retails for £9.50.

Pack contains a 7.5ml POREfessional, 4m Posietint and a 4g Bad Gal Lash mascara.

What I like about the pack is the fact you can sample of the well known Benefit goodies and not have to pay full price for it. Another thing I loved is that you sample it and see if it suits you etc.

My thoughts on the products are mixed. I absolutely love the mascara. Bad Gal Lash is something I will purchase in full size soon. I have too many open mascaras at the moment. It has a lovely big brush that really gives tonnes of volume and lengthens the lashes and gets just enough product on them. It doesn't have a weird smell like some mascaras and my lashes were soft even after two coats. Loved it.

When it came to The POREfessional I was so excited to try it out and see what the fuss was about. I have big pores on my nose, well not big but I see them. I would say this product works but when it wants to. There are days when it works and days where it doesn't. Sometimes my skin just does not want to cooperate with anything on my face so I can't make up my mind with this primer. Grr, booooo hisss!!

And finally the cheek and lip stain Posietint. I hate this darn thing. Yes it can leave a pink stain but that's it. I do not know how to make this work on my skin. It is doomed haha. I have tried both before and after foundation and all I get left with is a blob or it sinks into my skin and I cannot see it. So weird. I have just given up on it to be honest.

Overall, I am happy I bought this and gave the 'samples' a try. I would never have paid full price for them to just try.

Let me know if you have tried these or anything else from Benefit.

Birthday Wishlist

Well hello there,

Welcome to my first post on my new blog. Yay!

I decided to do a birthday wishlist for my first post to keep it nice and simple. It's my birthday on the 19th November.

In the top left I have NARS Orgasm blusher. I have Sleek's Rose Gold and everyone calls that the ultimate dupe BUT I personally think the Sleek blush is more pinky toned. I have wanted this for a long long time. I think this shade will look nice on my pale skin to almost give a blush/highlight effect. The retail price is £12.50.

Next over to the right is Illamasqua's Flare lipstick. I swatched this in Selfridge's London recently and fell in love. Again I love coral tones on my skin and lips, it just really suits me and I have huge brown eyes which brings it all together. This lipstick is so bright and gorgeous, I need it hehe. They retail for £16.50.

I couldn't leave out MAC haha. There are a thousand and one things I want from there but Candy Yum Yum is a shade I have been undecided about for ages. You cannot deny how lovely this cool tone bright pink looks. After seeing it on people and on YouTube etc I need it. It is a matte finish which isn't ideal but if it's like Ruby Woo then it'll be ok. This retails at £15.

Finally, well for this small list, is another Illamasqua product, over on the bottom right. This is one of their velvet blushes. This is part of their 'Sacred' collection and the blush is a cream to powder finish. I have heard nothing but great things about this brand and have no idea as to why I haven't tried this brand yet. This will change ASAP. Again, love the deep peach colour of this blush and the formula has me intrigued. They retail for £18.

Have any of you lovelies got a wishlist? Have you tried any of the above?

Let me know. Have a good evening,

Victoria xox
